Michigan 2012 - Part 4

Our last day at the resort, we took advantage of the free bike rentals.  We put Caitlin in a bike trailer and then I actually rode around the resort with her.  Evan REALLY wanted to ride by himself so we let him do the bike with training wheels. At first, he had a pretty hard time with steering and pedaling, but by the end of our time, he was actually doing much better.

We also headed to their little waterpark. The water was FREEZING by my standards, but the kids didn't mind (nor did Bryce).

We had such a great time with our friends and their families. It still amazes me we pulled off this vacation. My girls are awesome!  I'm already looking forward to more group vacations in the future.

The next day, everyone took off. Here's a pic of us all before we departed:

From there, our family drove to Mackinac City where we met my mom!  She drove up from Indy so that she could go with us to Mackinac Island.  This is another thing my family did for many summers when I was growing up.  Bryce had actually never been to the Island so it was fun to share this with everyone!  We met at Shepler's Ferry so we could ride across to the Island together.

Ready to depart!

The kids loved riding the ferry. One of the neat things about the small island is that there are NO cars allowed.  There are lots of bikes and horse carriages.  We stayed at the Lilac Inn on Main Street where we had a balcony overlooking main street.  The kids loved to sit out there and watch everyone go by in their carriages and bikes. Because it's such a small island, we only stayed one night but we still packed in almost everything the island has to offer.  More on our island adventures in the next blog post.
