Happy Birthday America!

I know I have not been posting much lately, but we have been busy with both the old house and new.  Just a quick update: The old house is on the market! No takers yet but the initial feedback was positive.  We spent this past weekend painting the kitchen (it was yellow) back to beige like the rest of the downstairs per the feedback.  That was not a fun task, but now it's done and all we need is a buyer!  Lots of prayers it sells quickly. We are moved into the new house and it's starting to feel like home.  We are down to about 2 box rooms.  We also are enjoying our new area of town.  We've met a few of the neighbors and they are all super nice with young kids as well.  We did a little "driveway drinking" with them the other night... they are a fun crowd :)

Now, onto the 4th of July!  Unfortunately, there is a drought here in Austin so all fireworks were cancelled/banned.  So, we didn't have many plans for the actual 4th.  I took the kids to the Round Rock parade for the first time. It was cute but extremely hot. Lots of the "floats" (aka trucks pulling decorate trailers) would throw candy to the kids lining the parade route. Evan enjoyed picking up some of the candy but you had better be quick! A nice boy next to us would usually give some to Evan if he wasn't fast enough.  Caitlin just wanted to run around and eat the candy which wasn't really plausible.  We stayed for about an hour.... long enough to see Elizabeth and Lucy on their church float! Then, it was off to some air conditioning.

Becca and Casey came over for dinner and we grilled for the first time at our new house.  Becca made us something called summer beer which was delicious and I made Paula Dean's banana pudding... so yummy. We watched fireworks on tv and just hung out.  Kind of nice to just relax before our big trip to Michigan and the West Coast.  And that means I probably won't be blogging much for the next few weeks. Hopefully after that, I will get into more of a routine at the new house and of course will have lots to blog about our adventures!
