Wedding Shower Weekend

This past weekend, Mema and Papa came to town so we could celebrate Michelle's wedding shower!  We were hosting a wine/wildflowers shower at our house on Saturday afternoon.  It was a beautiful weekend - gorgeous weather although a little windy.  They arrived late Thursday so Friday we had some time to play before getting busy on shower preparations.  We took the kids down to Zilker to ride the train and play on the playscape for a bit.  Evan LOVES riding the Zilker train and it was the first time for the grandparents.

All Aboard!

Waiting for the train to depart

Evan LOVES riding the train

Caitlin enjoyed it too, especially the wind in her hair!

After the afternoon naps, we actually got some family pictures done. They were supposed to be bluebonnet pics but due to the lack of bluebonnets this year, they were just family pictures. I can't wait to see them! I'll be sure to post. Hillary from Silver Bee Photography took them. I'd purchased a groupon months ago to get the bluebonnet pics done.  She was great to work with - very patient with two kids and thorough. I was really impressed with how she took time and made sure we got the shots we wanted. After the pics, we headed to Iguana Grill for dinner with Michelle and Brett's parents. It was great to meet them and a perfect evening for enjoying food and margaritas over the lake.

Saturday was the actual shower so we spent a good part of the day getting ready. The guys took care of all the yard work (it looked great!) and the girls ran errands . Finally, we were ready for the party.  Here's the spread and cake:

Here is everyone hanging out. We spent most of the time outside because the weather was perfect. It was fun to hear stories of Michelle and Brett and enjoy the wine and food. Mema did a great job of pairing different food appetizers with the wines.

And even Evan and Matilda had a great time (without wine!).

I promise, only juice in those cups!

Sunday, we were mostly lazy (lots of Masters watching) and then had a family dinner. And then Monday, it was time for Mema and Papa to leave. Evan was so sad to see them go.  Congratulations to Michelle and Brett - we can't wait for the wedding in July!
