Goodbye Redwoods!

The next morning, we wanted to see a few more things in Redwoods before we headed up towards Crater Lake.  We had to make sure we hit the Ladybird Johnson Grove!  This is the spot where they dedicated Redwoods National Park and is a beautiful old growth forest.  They have a short hike with markers/reading material so we learned a lot about Redwood forests. They are amazing trees!

Redwoods often grow right next to each other (where one has previously fallen). These are known as Cathedral trees.

Here is Dave, Matilda, and Evan in a tree that is hollow most of the way up due to a fire. HOWEVER, the tree is still alive! Redwoods are survivors!

Caitlin, Evan, and Daddy... we actually let Caitlin walk most of this trip and she did great keeping up (and loved walking over carrying).
