Zilker Tree

Austin used to have this amazing trail of lights. It was one of my favorite things to do each Holiday season. A few years ago though, they cut the budget for it so no more trail of lights. However, they still at least put up the Zilker Tree.  For those not familiar with Austin, this is an old moon tower that they string lights from in Zilker Park (aka Dazed and Confused... party at the moon tower).  Anyway, we haven't been there in awhile either and I really wanted the kids to see it. So, two days before Christmas we headed down to see it.

The big thing to do at the tree is to spin underneath it. Here's a shot of what it looks like under the tree:

You'll notice the spiral pattern which makes you SUPER dizzy if you spin underneath it and look up.  People tend to be falling all over the place. It's a lot of fun!

It was actually cold in Austin this night so we bundled up as best we could.

We had a fun time, and I'm glad we got to fit it in with our holiday plans.
