Michigan 2012 - Part 1

As many of you know, we recently took a long trip to Michigan which was fabulous!  We had a great time seeing all the friends and family along the way but it sure is good to be home too.

We left on June 22nd at 4:30am to start driving towards the Traverse City area of Michigan. Our plan was to stop in Chicago and visit the Dolvigs.  Well, you know us... we just pushed those kids and we drove straight from Austin to Chicago (one day, 19 hours).  Crazy with two kids under 4?? Possibly, but they did wonderfully!  There were moments but overall, I'm glad we pushed through. It meant we had a whole day with the Dolvigs on Saturday.

We started by letting the guys go golfing for a bit while we took the kids to the Elmhurst Library for a balloon demonstration.
They did pretty well with paying attention. Afterwards, we walked over to the nearby playscape to burn some more energy.

Such good friends!

There goes Caitlin!

Now Evan and Camden - as you can see, we all had a lot of fun with this one

Especially Brenner! He LOVED this slide. Caitlin was kind of scared of it at first but after one time down, she wanted to go again and again.

Later that day after naps, we headed to a nearby fair in Village Park.  We enjoyed live music, some great Irish dancing, and lots of fun games for the kids.

Evan and Camden doing the bouncy obstacle course. The only downside to the event was at the very end when Evan somehow fell out of the bouncy obstacle course and smacked his hard VERY hard on the ground. He had all of us worried about concussions and brain bleeding. However, a call to the nurseline and we were pretty sure he'd be okay.  (This after he got stung by a bee earlier in the day! He's one tough kid.)

Thanks Dolvigs for letting us stay with you! Next stop... Crystal Mountain!
